brain has probably been rubbed completely smooth by the sheer number of times i’ve listened to both black eye and indigo 🀑 happy holidays to me!
  • not to do reservice in the *** army just as the kids enter the military. I love the old school opening tracks (i do appreciate a good tablo verse) but nothing gets me quite like No.2. park jiyoon is such a great choice as a featuring artist, and again not to be an **** but the lyrics rly do kinda hit. i gazed longingly at the postcard version of indigo at a local k-pop store but managed to put it back down (for now).
  • black eye rly sounds like An AI Analysed 10,000 Y2K Pop Punk Songs - and as someone who still listens to 2 minus 1 a year on, i’m not complaining. vernon really does have a great voice for pop punk, so i’m glad he got to live out his sk8r b0i dreams.
  • not pictured, but also had iu’s ordinary day cover on loop this month. what she said about g.o.d already being in her musically makes so much sense - it really does explain why her discography has so much variety to it. it’s also such a sweet thing to say as a long time fan who is LITERALLY the GOAT in k-pop. also her aggressively waving her light stick while rapping along to the entire of 0% like πŸ₯Ή
+ bonus: 2022 overall

tbh i have no thoughts bc it’s nothing i didn’t already expect from my spotify wrapped. also, an album from 2008 being my most played album is a 2022 vibe.

πŸ“Ό watching

binged a court of fey and flowers, which i enjoyed more than i thought i would considering the lack of battle scenes (sorry, dice rolling for combat is fundamental to dnd To Me). the epistolary and rumour phases gave the game a fun ~regency flavour~ to the game - the drama of pouring your heart out in a letter only to rip it up! the politics of delivering your letter in the most visible way! also, lou and emily combining forces can only result in chaos. personally think they should either cast dev patel or michael b. jordan as dr green hunter, even if i will reluctantly agree that it sounds more like a renner role…

πŸ“š reading

finally ploughed through the entire of 내일은 λ‚΄μΌμ˜ ν•΄κ°€ λœ¨κ² μ§€λ§Œ 였늘 밀은 μ–΄λ–‘ν•˜λ‚˜μš” after almost about a year. can’t remember most of it, but that’s what you get when you use a text for intensive reading. it ended up being a great fit for my current korean level, so i’m hoping to pick out another korean book with a similar difficulty level for 2023. i’d prefer a book with a translated english version so i can compare notes, but i wasn’t sold on the bits of i want to die but i want to eat tteokbokki that i read. i’m leaning towards either concerning my daughter or shoko’s smile for this reason, but maybe i’ll delay buying either until i (hopefully!!!) go to korea next year?
also finished maybe you should talk to someone. it made me aware of something that i’ve been processing for a while - we are all as much as the stories that we tell ourselves. this doesn’t mean mental health issues are ~mind over matter~, but that thoughts are tricky things that can easily get tangled when we don’t notice. i’ve also always been curious about how people “graduate” from therapy, and this book gave me useful insight into the lifecycle (?) of a client in therapy, though i’m sure the journey different for everyone.

πŸ’¬ and other things

you could not pay me to relive this year, even if there were plenty of things to be thankful for looking back. neither learning to skate nor getting into dnd/ dimension 20 was anywhere on my hypothetical 2022 bingo sheet, but i’m glad i now have hobbies that don’t revolve around scrolling on twitter dot com.

i’ve never been much of a goal setter but next year i really hope to:
  • quit my job, not hate my next one and have decent work-life balance (LOL)
  • actually take the damn topik. i am now paranoid about checking the dates so i don’t miss the april sign-up…
